The year 2020 will be a year many will remember for a very long time. Not only were there unforeseen incidents, the major highlight of the year was the novel coronavirus.
The deadly pandemic affected the lives of a number of people. Families lost loved ones and nations torn apart.
In the midst of the pandemic, however, talents were horned while good music was released by some of Africa’s biggest musicians.
These songs kept us sane amid the lockdown.
For the artist, the lockdown presented the opportunity to have the undivided attention of their fans. Not forgetting the several acts that clinched or got nominated for a number of prestigious awards.
Enjoy this Afrobeats compilation from the MyNigeria.com team.
Wizkid – Smile
This song is one of my favourites no doubt. Smile features American R&B artist, H.E.R. It was released off Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album.
Zlatan & Burna Boy – Killin Dem
One of the biggest songs in 2019, any song that features Zlatan just seems to be a banger. A truly captivating video, ‘Killin Dem’ was the anthem for 2020. Listen, enjoy and practice some of the dance moves as well.
Davido, Yonda, Peruzzi, Fresh VDM – Aje
The first major song from Davido’s DMW Records crew, Aje presents a combination of talent, unique style, and togetherness. This is a must-watch.
Stonebwoy & Adina – Take care of you
Ghana’s finest artists, Stonebwoy and Adina link up for this perfect song. For fans who are in the romantic mood this season, this is something you should watch on a regular basis. It should definitely make your playlist for the year.
Cill Soul – Tatarata
One of Nigeria’s fast-growing alternative singers, Cill has evolved to become a voice for her music genre. This single, Tatarata is evidence of the talent she wields.
The sky can only be her limit. Enjoy this song.
Tiwa Savage – Koroba
You looking for a female artist who never disappoints, then look no further than Tiwa Savage. A talented singer to the core, many believe her decision to leave Mavin Records might just have done her more harm than good.
Despite misconceptions, Koroba is one of those songs that has come to stay.
Tems – Damage
Tems’ songs precede her. A vocal powerhouse, 2020 has definitely done her a huge favor. Damage is a product of 2020.
Omah Lay – Godly
2020 is by far Omah Lay’s biggest year. Revealing that he went into professional music this year only made the year more amazing. The only stain on his year was the setback in Uganda when he was arrested with Tems in Uganda.
Enjoy this chart-topping song, “Godly”
