A middle-aged man has found himself in the grips of Police in Agona Nsabaa District Command after he was apprehended stealing cables owned by the Electricity Company of Ghana.
A middle-aged man has found himself in the grips of Police in Agona Nsabaa District Command after he was apprehended stealing cables owned by the Electricity Company of Ghana.
He carried out the deed at Agona Kwesi Paintsil in the Agona East District of the Central Region.
According to Onua Fm, a rural electrification project is ongoing at Kwesi Paintsil village where electrical cables are now being laid.
Thomas Essel, the suspect, used a cocoa jute sack to climb the electricity pole to lose the wires.
Whilst up the pole, a dog barked at him and the owner came out and shouted for the neighbour’s attention.
Mr Essel confessed to stealing the cables to sell due to the economic hardship and begged the residents to temper justice with mercy.
He is currently at the Agona Nsaba Police Command awaiting to be arraigned for trial.
