Two Nigerian policemen have been dismissed from the Police Force after extorting money from a dutch cyclist in Nigeria. The cyclist was on a motorcycle tour in the West African sub region. She had moved from Ghana through Togo and Benin and was in Nigeria.

An Oyo State Commissioner of Police announced the dismissal of the two officers identified as Jimoh Lukmon and Kareem Fatai after a viral video captured them soliciting money from the Dutch power bike cyclist.

The incident occurred along the Moniya-Iseyin Road where the tourist heading to Abuja was confronted by the officers.

The video drew public outrage leading to a swift investigation by the police authorities.

This called the attention of the police force to investigate the incident of which they announced on Thursday, December 21, 2023 that the officers had been dismissed over the breach of public trust and the duty they swore to uphold.

The incident has also raised concerns about the conduct of law enforcement officers and served as a stern warning to other officer against misconduct within all ranks in the police force.
