Nigerian Afrobeats star, Burna Boy pulled up an exhilarating show on Sunday February 4 during his first-ever Afrobeats performance at the Grammys.
The Nigerian artiste dazzled audience with his scintillating song “Sittin’ on Top of the World” backed by Grammy-winning R&B icon Brandy and rapper 21 Savage.
His electrifying performance earned him the sixth spot at the Billboard’s Grammys performance rankings despite losing on all four nominations.
“For the first Afrobeats performance at the Grammys, Burna Boy pulled out all the stops,” Billboard said.
According to Billboard, Burna Boy’s infectious energy and easy charm wouldn’t seem out of place in a Hollywood musical.
The international magazine further applauded the stage and costume design of all three performers indicating that their “disparate styles brought to mind an MGM golden era musical.”
Burn Boy did not win an award despite earning four nominations but his performance has solidified his recognition as a global music force.
The 66th Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony was held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
