The Jirapa Area Youth and Development Association (JAYDA) has condemned the killing of Mr Eric Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel (Jirapa Dubai), in the Upper West region on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

The association, in a statement, called on the Ghana Police Service and all security agencies to “expedite action to conclude the investigations as a matter of urgency.”

Mr Eric Johnson’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood in his room on the hotel premises, according to a police statement.

“As a Development Association, we unequivocally condemn this dastardly act. We note with appreciation, however, the fact that the suspects so far arrested are being taken through the due process of the Law by having them arraigned before the Law Court and having them duly remanded to pave the way for smooth and thorough investigations.”

They also called on everyone with any information that would help apprehend the perpetrators, to volunteer such information to the police.

“In this regard, we call on all and sundry to lend their support to the ongoing investigations to ensure that the perpetrator(s) of this heinous crime is/are brought to book.

“It is our hope that all persons who have information relating to the matter, no matter how remote, will volunteer the same to the investigating agencies. Indeed, we urge them to do so willingly and promptly,” it added.

The association further urged residents in the Jirapa area to exercise restraints while the police continue with the investigations.

“Whilst we deeply feel and empathise with the pain in people’s hearts, JAYDA calls on all indigenes and every other person to remain calm while the investigative agencies do their work.”
