Global superstar and beauty mogul Rihanna made headlines once again, this time at the 2025 Met Gala in New York City, where she confirmed she is expecting her third child with rapper A$AP Rocky. The announcement sparked excitement among fans across the world — including many in Africa, where Rihanna remains an icon in both fashion and music.

The 37-year-old Fenty Beauty founder showed off her baby bump in style at the exclusive afterparty held on the night of Monday, May 5. Embracing her pregnancy glow, Rihanna stepped out in a black ruffled blouse left open to reveal her growing belly, layered under a dramatic oversized blazer and a long black skirt featuring leather details, cutouts, and lace-up accents.

As always, Rihanna didn’t hold back on accessories. She wore a crystal-embellished choker, a black lace bandana, and carried a sleek leather clutch. Her footwear of choice? Eye-catching black lace-up Christian Louboutin heels.

Earlier in the day, her official photographer, Miles Diggs, teased the pregnancy announcement with a striking Instagram post showing Rihanna in the rain, her baby bump proudly visible.

A$AP Rocky, 36, who served as a co-chair for this year’s Met Gala, couldn’t hide his joy when speaking to media on the red carpet. “It feels amazing,” he said. “It’s time we show the people what we’ve been cooking up. I’m glad everybody’s happy for us — because we definitely are.”

Rihanna’s main Met Gala look was another head-turner: a custom outfit by Marc Jacobs featuring a cropped black tuxedo jacket over a gray fitted top, with a blazer-shaped pinstriped skirt and an elaborate bustle made of jacket sleeves. She completed the ensemble with a wide-brimmed hat, a white collar and brown spotted tie, and stylish black-and-white brogue heels.

Speaking to “Entertainment Tonight” on the blue carpet, the “Diamonds” and “Work” hitmaker shared her feelings about this new chapter. “I’m excited,” she said. “I’m shockingly feeling okay — not too overwhelmed. At first it was like ‘Ahhh!’ and I was tired, but now I’m just really excited.”

Rihanna’s evolving maternity style continues to inspire women across Africa and the world, proving once again that motherhood and fashion can go hand in hand.
